The Poison Icefields is the ninth and final area in the game. It ranges from the Icefield campsite in the south to the rising smoke site atop the mountain in the far north. Exploring the surroundings you can find 2 collectible Hats and 2 Collectible Fruits, and 1 Stack of Cans, and 3 Graffiti among several unique setpieces such as an Under Construction site, a secret cave, and a crashed train.
This cutscene is triggered automatically at the start of Chapter 9.
Trigger this cutscene by approaching the woman sitting to the north of the campsite.
Trigger this cutscene by touching the Snowman to the north of Carrie.
The Lemon is located atop the ruins northwest of the Snowman. To get there, stay left of the frozen stream and head up the snow bank. You'll see a frozen lake down on your left. The ruins are resting in the middle.
Approach the ruin's eastern side to reach the top. A good way to deal with ice is to take three steps, then hold one foot up and slide until you stop. Repeat.
The crux is the step down onto the spiral stairwell. As long as you re-balance yourself after each step, it's not difficult.
The secret cave is located in the slot canyon northwest of the ruins.
This Graffiti is located on the back wall. Touch it to feel alive.
This cutscene is triggered by following Mike’s voice beneath the wooden barrier north of the snowman.
Slide beneath the wooden barrier to reach Mike
Help Mike escape.
This cutscene is triggered by answering the Payphone in the Crashed Train. The Crashed Train is located to the north of the snowman, high on the mountain above the frozen lake. You will have to climb "halfway" up through the train before it starts ringing.
The Crashed Train is sloped which allows you to make quick steps onto far gaps. It also allows you to save a lot of missed foot placements by sliding down onto another hold. Even better, the obstacles prevent most big falls. The bad news is that this route is still pretty tough.
This one is actually unique.
The Winter Hat is located atop the mountain east of the Crashed Train, hanging from a tree.
This hat does not have a Dream Sequence.
This image shows the train location and the Winter Hat location for refference.
Climb the left bank between the train and the Winter Hat to reach the top of the mountain, where the tree is.
The Pacifier is hidden. You'll need to climb to five telescopes to find it. If you'd rather I just tell you where it is, than you should know that I will never tell you that it is... in the small cave beneath the brush behind the Under Construction site. You owe me one.
These cans are located on the boulder on the island southwest of the Under Construction Site.
👓The Tamarillo is located above the Poison Mines first campsite. You can only reach it by traversing the invisible platform above the frozen river island. If you've just knocked over the cans, you're standing merely paces away from where it begins.
Start by crossing the wooden posts. Turn your body in-line with the platform and step across.
Moving across the platform is about finding the rythme and moving slowly. Stand on one foot a lot. This will just take practice.
Once you reach the end of the platform, you'll be above another pit. This one has the Tamarillo inside it.
Drop in, grab the Tamarillo, and climb out.
Climb back up to the Sculpture Walk from the Salt Mines by heading left after crossing back over the tracks. This is an extremely difficult route and it has a mind-numbingly long walkback. Stay strong. Listen to some music while you play. Take breaks. Pray. You can do this.
The first crux is getting up this slab. It's slippery, but you find good grip on the white line on the left and the small platforms on the right. Don't hug the right side too long.
The second crux invoves a step downward. The key is to step forward above the ledge onto the slippery ramp and then slide down to the foothold on one foot.
Once you've made it down, get back up by placing your right foot on the small ledge, and then step up quickly to the next ramp.
This last section is slippery and ends with a long gap to a low ledge. The only non-slip area on the first ledge is at the end. You can stand still there before you step across.
The Chest Key is located inside a cave on the southern edge of The Poison Hills. To get there climb toward the backside of the mountain southwest of the Ice Cream Truck Cans. Once you've collected the Chest Key, backtrack to the Poison Forest to unlock the Chest. The Chest can be found in a large mudhole east of the first Payphone. You can accomplish other tasks on your way there.
Entering the cave is simple. Zig zag up the stairs and head inside. The key is located on a grey stone to your right.
Take the key to the large mudhole east of the first payphone in the poison forest.
There is a new metal ladder to the left of left of the Poison Castle entrance. Take note of its location now, and then climb it on the way back up to the Poison Icefields.
These cans are located atop the giant egg south of Peach Lake. To get there you can downclimb from the Poison Desert, or climb up from the waters of Peach Lake. To reach the cans, traverse the Invisible spinning cubes.
Star atop the boulder west of the floating, spiinning cubes. Step down onto the corner edge of the first cube and stand on one foot until it rotates. Then step to the other surface.
When you reach the second cube, try to step onto the front left corner and stand on one foot. It's best to step onto it a little late so the rotation doesn't throw you off.
The Inverted Tower is located above the Big Tower in The Poison Forest. WARNING: It is recommended that you deliver the Chest Key before attempting. It is very easy to lose the key or your Sunglasses permanently by dropping your glasses within the tower. It may also be wise to skip this until after you've completed all other challenges.
As you can see, this game is peak.
This is it. From here on out, you're on your own. Good luck.
The Invisible Egg route is located to the south of the Ferris wheel, near a giant egg-shaped stone. Climbing this leads to the Invisible Gym, which floats above the backside of the Summit.
The Invisible Gym is located at the top of the Egg Route on the back side of the Summit. If you complete the Invisible Gym in under a minute, you'll get a cheeky reward that eventually leads to a game crash. You've been warned.
WARNING: It is possible to lose the Sunglasses here forever because sometimes they get stuck in the Invisble Gym as you fall out of it leaving them floating above you.
Witness. The Invisible Gym. Bask in its glory.
The invisible gym's timer is on the boulder on the snowbank.
The diving board is located near The Invisible Gym, just north of the last rock arch. I recommend you DO NOT attempt climbing to the summit. Instead, leap from the diving board back down to the start of the game and continue back up the normal way.
Note: If you're not careful, leaping from here may cause you to lose your Sunglasses. But, if you've followed along with this guide, you don't need them anymore anyway.
This graffiti is located high on the cliffside above the Poison Mines. You can only reach it by sliding down the steep bank of snow located south of the "Under Construction" area in the Poison Icefields. You'll find the graffiti on the wall west of metal gate you land on. This is the last major backcktrack in the game. WARNING: It's very easy to lose your Sunglasses doing this. It's recommended to leave them somewhere safe before attempting.
Start by getting on the ridge across from the giant arch. You'll see a tree to the south. Walk beneath it.
Beneath the tree, you'll see a telescope. Continue past it toward the south cliff edge.
From the edge look down and to the right to see a spine of snow. You want to aim to be either on top of that or slightly left of it.
Walk slowly toward the edge to see a flat rock below. Position your fall so that you slide through the V-notch and bounce flat off this rock. It's best to be slightly left of the V-notch, otherwise, you'll clip it and miss the landing below.
This cutscene is triggered by approaching the source of the smoke far to the north of the Crashed Train.
WARNING: Wearing Sunglasses during this cutscene will cause them to despawn from this save file. To prevent this from happening, stash the Sunglasses hundreds of paces away before triggering this cutscene.
This cutscene is triggered from the main menu after completing the game.
This graffiti is located on a steep, dark-textured bank southwest of the summit.
This cutscene is triggered by climbing to the peak of the mountain, what the map depicts as "The White Triangle."
Winter Hat: None. The final chapter does not allow Dream Sequences.
